Giving Every Child in the World a Laptop
Today is Thanksgiving Day and it just happens to be my favorite holiday. This day offers me the structure to be appreciative and connect to a spirit of giving. It is with that spirit that I share this post with you.
Nicholas Negroponte from MIT has a vision: to make laptops for $100 to give one to every child in the world, starting with children in poor countries. Intrigued?
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) is his brainchild and here's how you can help. At the moment, the price has been squeezed down to $200 per laptop. (This price, like just about all electronics, will continue to drop making the $100 target very achievable.)
Although these are very cool laptops, consumers can't buy them. However, for a limited time you can buy them and help jump start the project. That's why One Laptop Per Child is offering a Give One, Get One program for a very limited time. Help OLPC by donating a laptop through their noble program and you'll be able to buy one.
This is a great opportunity to get a cool gift for your a child you know while also making a great contribution towards another child you don't know. To find out more about this great program, click here.
However you must act before November 26
